With the exception of any of our cheese breads, all our breads are dairy-free.

Our complete line-up of breads includes the following: Baguettes, Burger buns, Cheddar onion buns, Cheese bread, Chop Suey bread, Cinnamon-Raisin bread, Dinner rolls, Flax seed bread, Egg-free Flax seed bread, Flat bread, Italian Herb bread, Jalapeño Cheddar bread or rolls, Multi-grain bread, Rosemary Olive bread, Sourdough Teff bread, and White Sandwich bread.

These breads are not all featured weekly. Those that do not appear on the bread schedule (below) are made to order or as time and requests permit. Further descriptions of all our breads follow below.

Bread schedule

Our regular line-up of breads that is available weekly at the store follows below. Some of the breads appearing in the schedule below are available on alternating weeks. We did this to add some variety as well as to address the higher demand for some of the breads that previously were offered infrequently.

Tuesdays: Multi-grain, White Sandwich, and Burger buns
Wednesdays: Flax seed, and alternating bi-weekly: Chop Suey with Jalapeño Cheddar bread or rolls
Thursdays: Multi-grain, and Sourdough, and alternating bi-weekly: Italian Herb with Rosemary Olive. Burger and Cheddar onion buns
Fridays: Baguettes, Cheese, Flat bread, and Flax seed
Saturdays: Cinnamon-Raisin, Multi-grain, and White Sandwich. Burger and Cheddar onion buns

Bread descriptions

Baguettes

Our baguettes have a nice crust with a soft, chewy interior. They’re equally good eaten on their own, with butter, or can also be made into garlic bread and bruschetta.

Beer bread

Our Beer bread uses a gluten free beer to give the bread a rye-like flavour. It is especially well suited to savory items such as corned beef with a dab of mustard.

Burger buns

Our burger buns are just the right size for a standard 6 or 8 oz. burger patty. We recommend lightly toasting the buns just as you’re finishing cooking your burger so that your toppings don’t make the bun too soggy. Can also be used as a bun to replace making sandwiches with sliced bread.

Cheddar onion buns

A variation on our burger buns, these go great with burgers.

Cheese bread

Our cheese bread is best suited to savory items or simply slathered with butter.

Chop suey bread

Our chop suey bread is a fruit bread based on a recipe from the mid-1950s. It contains rasins, currants, fruit peel, and glace cherries with just a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg. It’s delicious lightly toasted with butter and honey.

Cinnamon raisin bread

Our cinnamon raisin bread has lots of sultana raisins. It’s great with a nut butter or also makes a fabulous French toast.

Dinner rolls

Our dinner rolls are soft and moist and make a wonderful accompaniment to your meal. They can also be used as a bun for sliders.

Flax seed bread

This versatile bread is suited to either savory or sweet items when making sandwiches and contains both ground and whole flax seed.

Egg-free Flax seed bread

Just like its Flax seed bread cousin but made without the addition of eggs. Suitable for a vegan diet.

Flat bread

Based on a foccacia bread recipe, our flat bread is equally good used as a pizza crust or can also be cut up in wedges and served with dipping oils or hummus.

Italian herb bread

This bread is better suited to savory items when using it for making sandwiches. When cubed and dried, it is especially well-suited to being used in a stuffing recipe for poultry.

Jalapeño cheddar bread or rolls

This bread marries the flavours of cheddar cheese with just the right amount of jalapeño peppers to let you know they’re there. We will also make it as a dinner roll-size bun.

Mediterranean bread

An offshoot from our Rosemary olive bread, this one adds feta cheese (from sheep & goat milk) and sundried tomatoes.

Multi-grain bread

While really better called Multi-seed bread, this one is our most popular bread by far. In addition to ground and whole flax, we added pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and quinoa to give this bread just a bit of crunch while remaining soft and moist.

Rosemary olive bread

Made with rosemary and black olives, this bread is better suited to savory items when making sandwiches.

Teff Sourdough bread

Using a sourdough culture that we developed from teff flour, this bread is our original bread that does not contain eggs. It is a somewhat dense bread with a characteristic almost "rye-like" flavour. Like most of our other breads, this one is also dairy-free with the extra benefit of not containing any added baker’s yeast for those people who are unable to tolerate baker’s yeast. Suitable for a vegan diet.

White sandwich bread

This was our first bread we made and while it’s soft and moist, it’s more popular with our younger clientele who prefer a more plain bread – and it’s great for PB&J sandwiches.
